Moroccans residing in Spain continue to rank first among foreign workers affiliated with the Spanish social security system, with a total of 383,377 registered members as of the end of May 2025, according to data released Monday by the Spanish Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.
Moroccans are followed by Romanians with 350,487 affiliates, Colombians (236,442), Italians (210,041), and Venezuelans (190,320), according to the same source.
The total number of foreign workers affiliated with Spain’s social security system reached 3,070,831 in May, marking an increase of 73,524 affiliates, or 1.6% more compared to the previous month.
Of this total, 2,117,322 affiliates (69%) are from non-EU countries, while 953,509 (31%) are from EU member states.
The ministry also noted that the number of self-employed foreign workers reached a record high of 484,062 affiliates by the end of May, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 6.5%.
