Moroccan Dirham Slightly Strengthens Against the Dollar Amid Small Dip in Foreign Reserves

Between June 5 and 11, the Moroccan dirham posted a modest gain against the U.S. dollar, according to the latest weekly report from Bank Al-Maghrib. The currency appreciated by 0.3% against the dollar, while remaining nearly unchanged against the euro.

No foreign exchange auctions were held during the week.

As of June 6, Morocco’s official reserve assets stood at 399.8 billion dirhams — a slight 0.5% drop compared to the previous week, but still showing a solid 8.3% increase year-over-year.

In terms of monetary operations, Bank Al-Maghrib maintained steady intervention levels, averaging 130.4 billion dirhams in daily liquidity support. At its June 11 auction (settled on June 12), the central bank injected 48.6 billion dirhams into the banking system through seven-day advances.
