Spanish authorities announced the arrest of a suspected Daesh member in Guadalajara, central Spain, on Friday, in a coordinated counterterrorism operation carried out with Morocco’s Directorate General for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
According to a statement from the Spanish Civil Guard, the close cooperation between Spanish and Moroccan security services allowed for the precise identification and location of the suspect in Spanish territory. This, in turn, enabled Moroccan judicial authorities to resume terrorism-related proceedings previously launched against him.
The individual was presented before Spain’s National Court, the judicial body responsible for handling international arrest warrants and terrorism-related crimes.
The Civil Guard reiterated that combating terrorism remains a national and international priority, stressing the importance of cross-border cooperation in neutralizing extremist threats.
This latest operation underscores the strong security partnership between Spain and Morocco, aimed at bolstering regional and international stability through joint counterterrorism efforts.
